Required
Duties: -
Meets with professors and
lab coordinator before the beginning and at the end of term. -
Updates the course¹s site information
as required, on myCourses, before
the first day of the winter semester in January 2013. -
Accountable for the
professional, safe and confidential use of the Grade Book in myCourses. -
Assists students with technical issues relating to clickers and myCourses. -
Assists professors with the use of Student Response Systems (SRS or clickers) and associated program (Turning Point) during lectures. Any
related duties. -
Ensures the functional simultaneous audio-visual transmission of the
lecture in the overflow room and ensures proper decorum in overflow room. -
Identifies and documents opportunities for the creation of ³Lab Link
Slides² during all lectures (intended for future use by lecturers). -
Proof-reads midterm and final exams and assists with
formatting exams. -
Meets with students to discuss challenges to exam questions and
conducts exam viewing sessions. -
Attends lectures and answers student questions regarding the course
material during via the discussion board on myCourses or email on a daily
basis. -
Monitors student material on the discussion board. -
Conducts recorded lecture-material review sessions before the midterm
and final exams. - Invigilates the midterm exam in the
evening. - Any other
related duties, as assigned. |

Qualifications Required: - Preferably has taken Biol 112. Background in cell and molecular biology
required. - Availability in the fall 2012 to follow the
trainings required for this position. - Must have good
organization and communication skills - Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint (base program for Turning
Point) - Preference given to
someone who has been a Lab TA in the past for the course. - Preference given to someone who also has teaching assistant lab slot. |
