Tamara Western, Principal Investigator
Associate Professor
I started at McGill in 2003 after crisscrossing the continent for several years (PhD, University of British Columbia, BC, 1998; Postdoc Waksman Institute-Rutgers University, NJ, 1999-2001; Research Associate, back at UBC, 2001-2003). Trying to find out how things work is my passion and I’m happiest settled down in front of a good microscope with cool stuff to look at.

When not working on cell biology, I like to settle down with mysteries of the non-biological type or ride around the countryside outside of Montréal on my wonderful old horse.

Andrej Arsovski, MSc Candidate
Andrej hails from Macedonia via Toronto. He works on the PTY and MEN projects and has been in the lab since its inception in Sept. 2003 when he started as an Independent Studies student.

James Schafhauser, MSc Candidate
A member of the lab since Summer 2005, James is a Montrealer. He is looking into the ’Äúlikely suspects’Äù using microarrays and reverse genetics.

Heather McFarlane, MSc Candidate
Heather is from Kingston, via UBC and came to the lab in Fall 2006. She has initiating an interesting new project investigating the use of the mucilage secretory cells as a genetic model to study potential cell wall-plasma membrane adhesion proteins.
