This summer I participated in a project looking at the health impacts of livestock grazing on wild ungulates in Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary, India. We used fecal samples of wild and domestic ungulates to compare gastrointestinal parasite loads in wild ungulates in areas of high and low livestock overlap, as well as recorded observational data to track differences in behaviour of wild ungulates in these areas. This project involved tracking and observing wild ungulates in the Himalayan region of Uttarakhand, India, and collecting and analyzing fresh fecal samples for parasites at our field site.
