Microscopy
  • All prices are subject to change, to reflect changes in reagent and operating costs.
  • Facility use is based on a sign-up system, which is also the basis for calculating charges.
  • Billing will be monthly to a fund indicated by the users or their scientific supervisors. The fund holder will be informed of charges incurred by email, prior to the financial transaction. It is the responsibility of the supervisor to make sure the fund indicated covers the charges.
CIAN is part of the McGill University Life Sciences Complex (MULSC) and CIAN fees for microscopy are harmonized with the MULSC Imaging facility. Costs will be applied as of May 1st, 2012.

Fees will be charged in 1/2-hour increments with a minimum charge of 1 hour for a session. If technical assistance is required for a session an additional fee of $30 per hour will be added to the hourly rate. * Technical Assistance will be by appointment only.

1. LSC: FULL members of the departments of Biochemistry, Biology, Physiology or the Cancer Centre. DOES NOT include adjunct, associate or affiliated members of these departments.

2. Initial training sessions usually last 3-4 hours (depending on the instrument and include hourly microscope use fee PLUS hourly technical support fee.

3. An initial DEPOSIT for 10 hours of microscope time plus the training fee will be required for all new users.

4. Overnight experiments must be started at 15h00 or later in the afternoon. Multi-day experiments must be started at 15h00 on Friday afternoons.

5. IMPORTANT: ALL training and technical support is by appointment ONLY and will depend on availability of the facility staff.
