2D/DiGE
  • We charge for the use of the 2-D/DiGE facility on a per experiment basis.
  • Users are supplied with all the reagents and equipment necessary for running 2D gels, labeling or staining, and scanning and analysis.
  • Prices are based on reagent and consumables costs, plus a 10% fee (15% for users outside McGill), and are broken down into the experimental modules, as well as the different sizes of strips/gels we offer.
  • DiGE labeling cost is based on actual dye use.

DiGE CyDyes

Charges will be based on actual price of current batch.
The current price for 1 nmol of dye is between $123.13 ($128.73) and $187.40 ($195.92).
Usage for a typical experiment is 2nmol of each dye.
(2 experimental conditions, 3 biological replicates each, pooled internal standard, all 3 dyes)
Total dye charges would then be between $738.80 ($772.38) and $1124.42 ($1175.53).

* these strip/gel sizes are not recommended for DiGE.

A typical DiGE experiment (2 experimental conditions, 3 biological replicates each, pooled internal standard, all 3 dyes) on three 24cm strips / DALT gels would therefore cost 3 * ($16.63 + $16.84) = $100.41 for the sample separation, plus minimally $738.80 for CyDyes, a total of $839.21.

Users typically run a number of trial gels before attempting DiGE. If, leading up to this example experiment, the user had run two trial gels of the same format, and stained them with Deep Purple, that would total an additional 2 X ($16.63 + $16.84) = $66.94 plus 2 X $58.17 = $116.34, totalling $183.28.
